I love the hands Durer did so many years ago. Realize that he was he first person in western Europe, at 13, to ever draw his own portrait. He could evidently also draw a perfect circle, from hand.
You knew something about Dürer that I didn´t know. Someone of the greatest were often very talented and showed it in an early age. There is something with these praying hands that makes a very deep impression on me, as if I feel it deep in my heart, wanting to fold my own hands.
There have been some discussions in Norway about the art- students capability to draw hands for instance. Somebody means that it shall not be the exactly representation that´s most important, and others mean that it is necessary as a real artist to be able to draw the human body as it is. It´s about knowing his trade. I believe that Albrecht Dürer knew his trade very well. Otherwise I must admit that his work is more or less unknown to me, exept one of his selfportraits , in addition to Praying hands !
